There is one thing we here at TheGamingExperience are very fond of, and that are kids directed games. Of course in this gaming age, there is not a genre around that gets less publicity, and sales than that of the world of children’s games. However this particular genre is where you will find some true gems of the gaming industry. One of those gems is Disney Universe.

Disney Universe is a rare breed of a game, one that is well designed, developed, and produced. Unfortunately it is also one of those games most overlook, and it is a shame.

Gameplay

There are several fascinating things about Disney Universe; maybe the biggest one is the amount of characters it supports. Everyone from Stitch (from Lilo and Stitch), to Timon (from Lion King) is a skin for one of your characters. This may not sound like much, but there is a vast amount of characters for this game, whether it is buying the Muppets skins, or it is putting on one of the provided ones; which is still a good amount of skins.

Aside from customization, gameplay is actually one of the better games out there right now. It is also one of those games that gets better with a friend.

The combat system is pretty good, offering some good moves, which are not overpowered, and are not underpowered either. It provides a really good balance to gameplay when in combat.

Graphics

Here is the thing; most kid’s games are not that good looking for the system they are built for. Disney Universe puts that to rest with a beautiful environment to play in. I was actually quite impressed with how it looked, from start to finish. Again Disney Universe is one of those rare breed of games, that has everything going for it. Majority of the textures used were really defined, and give depth to levels. Also, the characters are well built and look very good.

The skins on the characters however were the most impressive. They are so good looking and look just like they are supposed to. One particularly stands out in my mind, and that is Sully from Monsters Inc. The costume looks enough like him, but still makes you notice that you have a character wearing a costume in the game.

Conclusion

Disney Universe is one of those rare breed of games, and it is worthwhile to give it a playthrough. You will not be disappointed with the results and the amount of fun you have. That is what a game is for right? To have fun!
