The year is 1977, Atari is about to release something that will forever how everyone views home entertainment; something so massive that it will captivate so many people. This “thing” is what we all know as Pong. Back in 1977, gamers where being born in their homes, and not in arcades, forever changing the landscape and paving the way for today’s companies who make video games for home conso... more.

There are a lot of things I can associate with Metal Gear Solid that can still bring chills to my bones. If there has been one thing prevalent more within the MGS arch, it is that they sure as hell know how to develop a character for both good and bad. I am not here to talk about gameplay or what not but instead I am here to offer a fact that the team(s) that worked on Metal Gear Solid has changed... more.

It is actually quite funny, how much the industry has changed in the last decade or so. It went from a free-range, let’s develop some games, to a glorified d*ck measuring contest. If you have not heard yet, the makers of the crap fest that is Candy Crush Saga had filed trademarks, and pretty much screwed every independent developer out there that had the word “saga” or “candy” in their n... more.

To go with our series of what we think each company should do, this time it is Sony up to bat. Sony has been having a hell of a time with the launch of the PS4, and taking the industry by storm. With that said, there is still some work to be done. #1 – Market the Vita properly To go on tap with our recent article “Why No Love for the Vita”, we came to the conclusion that the Vita rea... more.

#6 – Bioshock Let’s face it, the world that is the Bioshock franchise is fascinating in almost every aspect. Don’t get me wrong here, Infinite was a good game and all, but I want a movie based around the premise that is Rapture. More importantly I want a movie that talks about how Rapture was built, and all the events leading up to the game. See, there is always one thing that Irratio... more.

If there has been one thing in this generation of gaming that has been the biggest disappointment it has been the support for the PSVita. Last year Sony really opened the door for indie publishers, to come and make something of themselves on this platform, but yet the AAA studios still avoid it? I am not sure I get really why, other than budget. Even then, we know the “budget” line is j... more.

There is one thing we here at TheGamingExperience.net are vastly fond of, and that is our Game Engines. I for one being a Game Developer, utilize them on a daily basis so naturally every new release has me curious. Browsing Steam one day, I find myself glued to the page of the Leadwerks Game Engine that is up on Steam right now. Being a (Developmental) Journalist I was naturally inclined to ask fo... more.

This Christmas was one of those where I went all out for my kids, who are gamers just as much as I am. My wife and I got my daughter (3) a Vtech Innotab 3S as she loves Disney Jr games, and got my son (7) his very own Xbox. Watching them play a video game is a flashback for me, as I was extremely excited to have a Sega Genesis (yes… before I got a NES), and gaming changed my entire world. ... more.

If there was one game that stood out among the rest this year, it has to be Path of Exile. It was developed and published by a small team of people from New Zealand; who say they created a game they would want to play. Truth is, if there was one game every person should own on Steam it would be Path of Exile. If it looks familiar it is because it takes on that Diablo-style gameplay, bu... more.
